Tower Bridge is probably the most famous bridge in the World, so when City of London wanted a centenary brochure to take centre-stage in their Bridge Lift Presentation Pack, they came to us for a special piece of work that embodied the character and history of one of London’s greatest landmarks.
We could have easily filled the pages with facts about tons of concrete, steel, cement, and granite paving, and then taken some very nice pictures. But there’s more to the bridge than just bricks and mortar. Our approach was not so much about what it’s made of, but what it means to London and the people that have encountered it.
The brochure portrays Tower Bridge’s colourful history and documents some of the more unusual events that have transpired over the years.
Did you know that almost a hundred years ago, Frank McClean became the first person to fly between it? Last year, Robbie Maddison jumped over it? And only last week, Sam Buckley, aged 7, from York, lifted it – all by himself? Facts like these, illustrated with engaging copy and archive photography, help to create a memorable piece of work.
